Digital Think Tank: New Media Innovation, Big Data and Open Strategies
A New Era in Entertainment Platform Visionaries, Trend Researchers and Media Entrepreneurs at the International Media Convention
This year’s Digital Think Tank on Tuesday, September 4th from 10:30am to 6pm once again invites audiences to experience even more innovations and showcases operating at the interface between content and technology. Topics include everything from new media innovation and cloud-based media offerings to digital communication, big data and open strategies.
New Media Innovation: The Creative Power
Content developers, founders, producers and scientists from Germany and Israel will present a variety of ways to launch and control innovative processes in a targeted manner with the ultimate goal of opening up new market opportunities for the media and creative industries. This section will feature presentations by a number of leading minds, including Professor Ulrich Weinberg, head of the renowned School of Design Thinking at the Hasso Plattner Institute, “ideas designer” Julia Leihener from Telekom Innovation Laboratories (Deutsche Telekom’s ideas lab for social factors associated with digital communication), Christoph Mäschig / Mathias Keswani from the Hamburg-based creative company Nerdindustries, Koby Maluk from tech-savvy Israel, who will present Livingrid, a portal for live productions on the Internet, and Professor Matthias Haase from Stargate Germany in Potsdam. With head offices in Los Angeles, Stargate Studios is an international VFX giant in the field of film, TV and advertising who have worked on a number of hit series, including “24,” “Grey’s Anatomy” und “The Walking Dead.” Stargate Germany grew out of a collaboration with GrundyUFA. Ji-Hun Kim from De:Bug/Engadget will act as host/moderator.
Big, Better, Meta: The Data, Cloud and Media Business
Data is the leading currency in our networked digital society. In this section, internationally successful companies, designers and scientists will show how to transform big data into big business. Cafer Tosun, director of the brand-new SAP Innovation Center in Potsdam, will present innovative cloud solutions from SAP. Information and communications researcher Arnold Picot, board chairman of the Münchner Kreis, will investigate the opportunities and risks associated with the secure and efficient handling of data. Other speakers include Till Jaspert, a founding partner of Claro Partners, a Spanish company that specializes in empirical trend scouting using large volumes of data. Benjamin Wiederkehr from the Swiss company Interactive Things will show how to visualize data effectively. Jan Bertil Dahms, Brightcove’s head of sales and distribution in Europe, will report on the latest state of affairs in the field of videos from the cloud. Gerrit Schumann, managing director of the successful Cologne-based startup simfy, will present the latest in state-of-the-art cloud services in the field of music. And Stefan Zilch will represent Spotify, the Swedish counterpart of simfy.
Open Strategies
And finally the discussion will focus on transparency, authenticity and open data in a section reflecting a cooperative effort with the re:publica creators of newthinking. Participants include Jan Wildeboer, Red Hat's EMEA Open Source Evangelist, Andreas Wichmann from newthinking and Zara Rahman & Johnny West from OpenOil, an energy consultancy and publishing house based in Berlin.
