A market of unlimited opportunities? The sale of broadcast rights to Germany’s Bundesliga and England’s Premier League soccer matches recently brought in record-breaking revenues. The most important players in the bidding process were the media corporation Sky and Deutsche Telekom and British Telecom respectively. Germany saw another first, as well: league newcomer “Bild.de” soon will be offering all games as clips on Web TV and mobile broadcasts. What effects are “megadeals” such as these going to have on overall league offerings?
