Science Meets Content on September 6
Digital Think Tank, New Screens, Interfaces & Technologies and Secure Identity at the International Media Congress in Berlin
With its new "Science meets Content" section, this year's International Media Congress will place special emphasis on science, research and innovation and provide an inspiring look at the future of media. Scientists from the Fraunhofer and Hasso Plattner institutes will join with cyberwar experts to discuss the current state of research in the fields of artificial intelligence and data protection. At the new Digital Think Tank, experts drawn from the research departments of major corporations will join with producers and marketing specialists to present their visions and products for the media world of tomorrow. These discussion roundtables will be accompanied by interactive installations created by international media artists.
"Fresh Ideas, Future Technologies, Art and Design" – Organized in cooperation with Create Berlin, this topic will be discussed by host Ji-Hun Kim, editor, De:Bug/Engadget, Nicole Srock.Stanely, dan pearlmann Markenarchitektur, Peter Hanappe, Sony Computer Science Laboratory, Federico Dini, doodem Berlin and Christian von den Brincken, Ströer Sales & Services. Among those on the afternoon panel from 2-3pm are Dr. Ralf Schäfer, head of image processing, Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, Aykan Aydin, Deutsche Telekom Laboratories, Dr. Frank Michel, German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, Susa Pop, Public Art Lab and Thomas Kowollik, Microsoft Germany. In cooperation with Create Berlin (in the morning) and the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute.

"Secure Identity: From Fiction to Reality" – The afternoon (from 3:30- 6pm) will feature an exciting discussion on the various technological and legal means available to protect intellectual property and prevent cyber crime; an examination of the ways in which content is abused and manipulated; and a look at possible future scenarios. After a greeting by Henning Heidemanns, state secretary in Brandenburg’s Ministry of Economics and European Affairs, the discussions will involve Dr. Bertram Nickolay, Fraunhofer IPK, Lars Stevenson, Human Machine Intelligence, Dr. Sandro Gayken, Freie Universität Berlin (FU), Steffen Rühl, yasni and Cafer Tosun, SAP Innovation Center. Dr. Christian Stöcker from Spiegel Online will act as host and moderator. In cooperation with the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and the Technische Universität Berlin (TU).

At this year‘s international MINTiFF Conference on Tuesday, the discussion will examine the interplay of science and fictional content. Among the top speakers are Katherine Lingenfelter, author and supervising producer of “House” (also very popular in Germany), Prof. Joachim Kosack, head of German fiction at Sat.1, Prof. Dr. Marion Esch, project manager at MINTiFF, TU Berlin, and physicist Sidney Perkowitz, board member of “The Science & Entertainment Exchange,” Atlanta, USA.
