Again the conference takes place in the course of the International Media Congress at medienwoche@IFA.
"House, MD" an the public value of entertainment
In this German "Year of Science 2011 – Research for Our Health" the successful American TV series "House, MD” is presented as an example of a TV production in which modern medical diagnostic methods are not just a source of high value entertainment and ratings success, but also inspire innovations in medical teaching in German universities through their educational content. The focus of the subsequent discussion is where German film makers see opportunities and creative leeway for medical education in TV drama formats and for emphasizing the public value of fictional television entertainment.
Which program strategies the BBC pursues in terms of quality and public value when creating drama programs is the topic of the following talk and provides the opportunity to discuss how quality and public value of drama formats can be developed and evaluated.
