International Keynote with Google CEO Dr. Eric Schmidt

Google CEO Dr. Eric Schmidt will give the final keynote address at the IFA International. The keynote will be broadcast live in Saal 3 of the ICC for visitors to the Media Congress. Since beginning at Google in 2001, Schmidt has played a major role in transforming Google from a Silicon Valley startup into a globally active corporation. Under his management, the company's structure was fundamentally revised and its offerings expanded without neglecting Google‘s guiding principle of innovation.

Less is More? The Future of Public Broadcasting
"Less is More" - this is the new strategic approach taken by Mark Thompson, head of the BBC. After completing their own 3-step tests, Germany's ARD and ZDF are also reconsidering their online activities. There is now talk of a "re-definition" of the responsibilities of public broadcasting in Germany, i.e. of cooperation, self-restraint and a new media order. Keynote addresses will be held by Caroline Thomson (BBC), Dagmar Reim (rbb) and Christoph Keese (Axel Springer AG), the discussion will also be with journalist Stefan Aust, the author and ad writer Sascha Lobo et al.
